NGLA Annual Conference and Association volunteer opportunities include assessment, awards, educational programming, fundraising, and project management.

An additional opportunity for undergraduates and graduates is the NGLA Student Staff Team. This team volunteers on-site during the NGLA Annual Conference. Lodging, food, and conference registration will be provided by NGLA. Apply here for the NGLA Student Staff Team.

Assessment Committee

The Assessment Committee supports assessment efforts for the Association, including but not limited to educational, sponsor, and volunteer experiences. This person collaborates with other individuals as directed to evaluate the alignment of programming and plans with strategic initiatives.

The responsibilities for this position occur from November through May. Experience in assessment is required. Attendance at the NGLA Annual Conference is not expected.

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee will play a pivotal role in supporting the Association’s financial sustainability and growth. This person’s primary responsibility will be to implement effective fundraising strategies to secure financial resources that align with NGLA’s mission and goals. The Fundraising Committee will support the Association’s annual fundraising plan, which may include a Giving Day, the Silent Auction, and a peer-to-peer donor program.

The responsibilities for this position are from November through May. Experience in fundraising, development, or related fields, particularly within the nonprofit sector or higher education, is highly preferred. The estimated time commitment varies based on fundraising activities and events. Attendance at the NGLA Annual Conference is not expected.

NGLA Awards Judge

The NGLA Awards Judge assists with the selection of NGLA Awards recipients. This person is responsible for reviewing NGLA Awards applications and providing feedback that is used to select the recipients as well as to educate applicants about ways their application could be improved.

The responsibilities for this position are early January through early February. Attendance at the NGLA Annual Conference is not expected.

Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator partners with the Operations Manager to develop budget-aligned comprehensive project plans for educational programs hosted by NGLA, including the NGLA Annual Conference. This person supports the execution of programs by monitoring project plans alongside the associated NGLA Project Lead. The NGLA Project Lead is the person accountable for the successful implementation of the project. The Project Coordinator contributes to documentation, prepares project progress reports, and communicates project status to leadership and stakeholders. This person must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and excel working with a large, diverse group of stakeholders.

The responsibilities for this position are year-round, with peak times during June, July, January, and February. The Project Coordinator is expected to attend regularly scheduled meetings with their Volunteer Lead and the Operations Manager. Project management experience and proficiency in project management software, preferably Asana, is required. Experience volunteering with NGLA or similar conferences is preferred. Two-year commitment is preferred. Volunteering at the NGLA Annual Conference is not expected – this role is invited to attend as a participant with complimentary registration (excluding lodging & travel).

NGLA Silent Auction Shift

Attending the upcoming NGLA Annual Conference? Enhance your on-site experience by volunteering for a 90-minute NGLA Silent Auction shift! This person promotes the NGLA Fund while answering questions about items and the bidding process.

The responsibilities for this position are a 90-minute shift on Friday or Saturday at the upcoming NGLA Annual Conference. This volunteer role is available only to individuals already registered for the NGLA Annual Conference.
