Online Conference Registration Now Available

We are happy to announce that online registration for the 2009 NGLA Annual Conference is now available. This year’s registration deadline is January 19, 2009 and the registration fee remains $180 for both students as well as professionals. A late fee of $30 will be added to registrations received after January 19th. The registration fee includes conference materials and programs, lunch Friday and Saturday, and dinner Saturday evening. Questions may be directed to Wendi Kinney at kinney@geneseo.edu.

NGLA 2009 AT A GLANCE

The NGLA website is being updated and reformatted to provide you with all the information you need for the 2009 conference at the Connecticut Convention Center and Hartford Marriott Downtown, February 19- 21, 2009. Until the site is ready, please use the following info to help you with your plans.
REGISTRATION

WORKSHOPS
The Call for Programs is live http://www.ngla.org/call_for_programs.php! Professionals as well as students are invited to submit proposals to enhance our Saturday educational programming. The deadline for submission is November 1, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.
We are excited to announce that in conjunction with CAMPUSPEAK, we will have a two-hour “Intake Equation” program offered on Saturday. No additional registration is necessary. It will be offered concurrent to other educational programs and students who are interested may self-select to attend. If you have questions about our workshops or our submissions process please contact Kara Miller at ksm39@cornell.edu.
CONFERENCE STAFF
Each year the Northeast Greek Leadership Association extends an invitation to both undergraduate and graduate students to apply for a position as a member of the Conference Staff. Applications will be soon be available on the website. This is an excellent opportunity for those that have interests in continued involvement in the fraternity and sorority community, a career in higher education or fraternity and sorority affairs or event planning. PROGRAMMING for PROFESSIONALS
NGLA is proud to partner with HazingPrevention.org to offer a unique educational experience, The Hazing Prevention Institute, on Friday, February 20. The Institute will focus on the environmental change model and creating a cultural change on campus and in organizations in regard to hazing. It will have a particular emphasis on coaching students to prevent and intervene in hazing through values-based conversations.
AWARDS
This year the NGLA Awards Committee is instituting a philosophical change in the way Programming Awards will be conferred. For years NGLA has emphasized the building of Greek communities on campuses. To that end, Programming Awards will be awarded to the campus, rather then to a governing council. We are excited to recognize campuses whose entire Greek community exemplifies the ideals and values of fraternity and sorority life. We hope this new format of campus award applications will encourage programming/governing councils to collaborate on initiatives in order to build better Greek communities.
All applications and supporting documentation will be submitted electronically, eliminating the time spend putting together binders and other awards materials.
Individuals are also recognized through our Awards program. Greek Leaders of Distinction, the Guenzler Outstanding Staff/Volunteer Award and Philippi Outstanding Advisor Award are all sponsored by NGLA. In addition, we are proud to offer awards sponsored by our higher education or interfraternal partners, including the Gamma Phi Beta College Panhellenic Award and National Panhellenic Editors Conference Award - (College Panhellenics only) and the Gamma Sigma Alpha GPA Award.
